    Academician Guanzhou Qiu, graduated from the Department of Geology and Mines of Guangdong University of Mining and Metallurgy (predecessor of Guangdong University of Technology) in 1976, majoring in mineral processing (predecessor of environmental engineering major). He used to be the vice president of Central South University of Technology/Central South University, and is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor of Central South University. Dedicated to the research on the processing and utilization of low-grade and complex refractory metal mineral resources in China for a long time, and has made remarkable achievements in the flotation separation of fine particles and sulfide minerals and direct reduction of iron ore, especially in the biometallurgy of low-grade sulfide ore. He awarded the national scientific and technological experts with outstanding contributions. He has successively won 2 second prizes of National Technological Invention, 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and 2 top ten scientific and technological advancements of China's universities. In 2003, he served as the academic leader of the innovation group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In 2004 and 2009, he served as the chief scientist of the National 973 Program in the field of biometallurgy. He was the chairman of the 19th International Biometallurgy Conference in 2011 and was elected as the Vice President of the Metallurgical Society.

    Prof. Zengwei Yuan, School of Environment of Nanjing University, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Dean of the Institute of Ecological Environment of Nanjing University (Lishui), Editor-in-Chief of Resources, Environment and Sustainability, graduated with a master degree in Environmental Engineering from our school in 2001.
