    From 2015 to 2019, the school presided over more than 160 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, including 70 from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (1 National Outstanding Youth Fund and 3 key projects). Research funding to the school exceeded 200 million yuan; published over 450 SCI papers, 9 ESI highly cited papers; more than 40 invention patents. Ten scientific research awards at or above the provincial level have been received, including the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2001.

    The typical projects of research and development are as follows:

    1、Professor Taicheng An and his team members have obtained 41 patent authorizations in the photocatalytic degradation of VOCs and sterilization and disinfection, and have transferred 6 items. The patents been applied to dozens of VOCs waste gas treatment projects and provided technical support for three companies.

    2、Professor Xun'an Ning and his team members have developed the technology of printing and dyeing sludge dehydration and drying-pulverized coal blending-waste gas treatment, and the results are applied in Dongguan Chaoying Textile, Hutai (Panyu) Textile and other companies.

    3、Professor Qintie Lin and his team members use humic acid and natural minerals as the main raw materials, and use multi-stage controllable trajectory ball milling processing technology to prepare composite functional materials with both heavy metal passivation and soil improvement. The related results have been applied to repair contaminated soil in Panyu, Shaoguan and other places, won two Guangdong Science and Technology Awards.

    4、Professor Yanbin Xu and her team members have used the steady weak magnetic field, restricted electrochemical reaction and the strengthening of dominant bacteria to improve the purification efficiency of traditional biological processes, and carried out a large number of applied researches in the remediation of heavy metal pollution and the advanced treatment of aquaculture wastewater. The technology of electrolysis-enhanced dominant bacteria-loaded biological treatment successfully applied to hundreds of farms in Wen's company.

    5、Dr. Sheng Zhong designed a 1,000 tons/year (first phase) waste IC extraction production line for precious metals in Guiyu Town, reducing acid consumption by more than 99% and reducing pollution from the source.

    Professor Shuiyu Sun, Prof. Weifeng Song and their team completed the wastewater treatment and reuse projects of Guangdong Fankou lead-zinc mine (10,000 tons/day) and Nanjing lead-zinc-silver mine (5,000 tons/day). "Regulated Flotation Theory and Practice" won the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award (2001), and the follow-up technology was applied in more than 10 large enterprises.
